About Brita
Brita is a passionate advocate for holistic wellbeing with nearly 4 decades of experience as a practitioner of Shiatsu, Massage Therapy and Holistic Coaching. She has 12 years experience as a Certified Yoga Teacher and has been practicing yoga and meditation since 1983.
Currently in training with The School of Living Yoga as a Transformational Sleep Yoga Nidra Teacher, and brings this transformational practice to the foundations of her sessions.
Brita first trained as an aerobics instructor and fitness trainer (Oxford Polytechnic, now Brookes University) in the 1980's and realised there was more to good health than simply taking care of the physical body. She trained as a practitioner of Shiatsu (3 years; Shiatsu School of Natural Therapy, now European School of Shiatsu). Holistic Massage (ITEC diploma certified - Anatomy & Physiology) and Rogerian Counselling at Metanoia Institute, London.
Brita has gained experience from many teachers and practices in her 35 years of bodywork and healing work, incorporating her life experiences from living in the USA and Mexico, where she trained with Byron Katie (The Work), California, USA and in Hot Stone Massage Therapy, Colorado.
Brita is a Certified Yoga Teacher since 2012. She initially trained with Sivananda Vedanta Yoga (Tamil Nadu, Southern India, qualifying in Classical Hatha Yoga). Since then she has completed over 500 additional hours in teacher training. Currently with School of Living Yoga, Ontario, Canada, Yoga Nidra Teacher Training.
She skilfully combines the principles of mind, body, and spirit into yoga sessions and holistic treatments. These can include holistic massage, Shiatsu, Hatha Yoga, Yoga Nidra, relaxation tools and Restorative Yoga together with holistic bodywork to assist your well-being and self-care. She works from her beautifully calm, home-studio in Grandpont, Oxford.
Brita offers 1-1 sessions, in-house retreats, workshops and weekly yoga classes (in-person & online).
